FACT VS. FICTION

Some consumers may find the following criticisms of The CO2 Safety InflatorTM to be remote, if not altogether farfetched possibilities, but they are in fact the two strongest criticisms that have been leveled against this device, and therefore must be addressed.

FICTION #1: The pin of The CO2 Safety InflatorTM touches the CO2 cylinder cap, and in doing so penetrates the cap plating, which will eventually cause the cylinder cap to rust out and inflate the life vest.

Most people would simply respond to this criticism by saying—"So What? The worst that will happen is that the life vest will inflate!"

Also, in most cases it would probably take months, if not years for the CO2 cylinder cap to rust out under the most adverse conditions, even if the cap plating were completely scraped away—and if conditions were this bad, the life vest itself would probably deteriorate or be damaged long before the cap rusts out.

—But again, so what? The worst thing that can happen is that the life vest will inflate!

Second, anyone who's seen The CO2 Safety InflatorTM will probably have a difficult time even finding a mark on the cylinder cap, let alone a hole that actually penetrates the cap plating. Why? Because The CO2 Safety InflatorTM has a proprietary flat tip, not a sharp one, and for this reason a penetration of the CO2 cylinder cap plating by simply screwing the cylinder into the inflator cannot occur. However, because of the friction of one flat piece of metal against another, a small shiny spot may appear—this is, however, hardly an actual breach of the cylinder cap plating.

Third, this situation actually already exists in the life vest industry! For years there's been automatic CO2 inflators that have been sold with inflatable life vests that are supposed to inflate these vests only when the user falls into the water, but these automatic inflators are unreliable and are often accidentally set off by humid or rainy situations, which of course causes these life vests to prematurely inflate. Yet some of these same critics who level this criticism against our own device continue to endorse and actually use these same automatic inflators on their own life vests!

FICTION #2: There is no study to show that The CO2 Safety InflatorTM will not work its way through the CO2 cylinder cap from vibration.

This criticism will probably stretch the imagination of most consumers: It's intended for airline life vests, and there's another simple test that will prove that it too is false.

WARNING! DO NOT TRY THIS TEST AT HOME—CO2 CYLINDERS WILL EXPLODE IF EXPOSED TO EXTREME HEAT OR EXCESSIVE PHYSICAL CONTACT!. Take a standard manual inflator with a CO2 cylinder and The Safety InflatorTM with a CO2 cylinder and place both of them into any metal tumbling machine (e.g., an ordinary clothes dryer) for an hour at the lowest heat level. This test not only exceeds most vibration conditions, but clearly demonstrates what actually happens under conditions of the most extreme knocking about and vibration:

Within a few minutes in the tumbler both CO2 cylinders become unscrewed and fall free from each inflator!

In other words, due to the intense vibration and tumbling the CO2 cylinders will slowly start unscrewing and then fall out of each inflator long before there's any possibility of the inflator pin working its way through the inflator cap. The results of this test are also confirmed by the fact that the Air Force requires the CO2 cylinders in its pilots' life vests to be locked into their inflators with metal side pins that will not allow the cylinders to vibrate free.

It's also interesting to note that the FAA does NOT require CO2 cylinders to be permanently locked inside each life vest inflator as does the Air Force, undoubtedly because there's not enough vibration on commercial airliners to cause this problem, which means that this criticism has no relevance to the commercial airline life vest market.

And unless boats vibrate more than Air Force fighter jets, this "criticism" has no relevance at all to any major market.

By therefore by presenting the facts, it's easily demonstrated that these "very serious problems" may sound good, but they make so little sense that they actually serve as endorsements for The Safety InflatorTM!

While we certainly share any concern that a new product should operate as flawlessly as possible, we feel that individuals whose remarks are only to defend the status quo or who will never change their minds no matter what the facts are do little good for the life vest industry. After all, this is the same device that the industry has been crying out for for years—the only inflator in the world that automatically eliminates the #1 danger with all inflatable life vests! To blindly reject or even consider this major breakthrough in water safety can only be considered a sad indictment of the critics themselves and a great disservice to all life vest users.
